Although the college prides itself on diversity, there is a feeling that it is crammed down the throats of its students. If you are white or hispanic there will be plenty of other students that look like you but there aren't many black students. I like the small class sizes, but it can be really limiting to only have two or three instructors within the major. Adjunct profs can be nightmarish and even some of the tenured ones (all doctors) can be annoying.Overall, Whittier gives one a decent education but it's really what the student makes of it. This is not a party school and has no nationally recognized frats; its more of a kick it in the dorms kind of campus. But if you have friends with a car Hollywood and Santa Monica is only 30 mins drive, so you have other options off-campus. Also, the school doesn't have its own study abroad programs, with the exception of Denmark, becuase it is so small.

Very great school, unlike many of the public schools in California Mount St. Mary's College is different. Here your teachers know you by your name and I have never been in a class where there is more than 25 people (exept maybe if you are in the Nursing Program). The faculty is very nice, expecially the Career Counslers, you can always go to them for help. The only bad thing is that it is on top of a hill and going down to the city can be difficult. Also there needs to be more recognition of this school.

Are uniforms forming or corrupting our society ?

Are uniforms forming or corrupting our society ?

In sacramento High School uniforms are believed to be the key part of being a successful person. Uniforms are enstilled to help us dress appropiately for business and job interviews. But, is their a way that people can be over doing uniforms? There has been many rules created about uniforms as far as jelwery and scarf’s and how they are not allowed in the workforce. But, if you ask any working person scarf’s and jelwery are allowed as long as its not religious based. In schools such as Sac High nothing is really alllowed except for your school shirt, dickies, Sac High sweaters and nothing that contains red or blue. In other schools many people believe that uniforms aren’t a good thing. For example, Isaac Grauke states, “Opponents insist that there is no credible evidence that school uniforms improve school discipline or promote higher achievement.” This shows that uniforms can limit some things from happening, but not all. This is because everyones personality or background usually dictates what type of decisions they make. Many others think that uniforms should be in all schools. Another example is, Isaac Grauke also states, “Some say that a child in a school uniform is more likely to take school seriously. Schools report that school uniforms decrease fighting and violence that arise out of arguments over fashionable clothes.” This is because they believe that fashion will cause problems between people and lose the focus of school. But, instead the actual problem is usual caused by outside forces, and the staff not being able to control the enviroment or students just simply not caring about their education. Their was a poll created at Sac High about uniforms and if there is going to be changes how would they feel. Out of 23 students, 15 said they don’t care, 7 said they are againts uniforms, and 1 said that they like uniforms and believe they do make changes in our school. As far as the new implements of the dress code at Sac High in total 23 students voted and 4 said that it does not bother them(mainly seniors, since they won’t be here next year), 19 said they do not agree and wouldn’t like the changes based on the ones we already have now ,and nobody said they want to try out the new ideas. After researching 69.30% of people voted on youdebate.com polls that they don’t believe uniforms improve schools and 30.70% said they do believe uniforms improve schools. What is the next step, with the future of uniforms.

Our Lives After High School

Our Lives After High School
By Kejia Bailey

After high school the lives of Sac.High seniors are just starting to take off. Many of them are planning to attend 4 year colleges and purse the career of their choice.

During an interview, Asia McNairy-Bond*- expressed to me that she’s planning to attend San Francisco State University and work towards her degree in Child and Adolescent Services because she loves kids. In the near future she would like to have three sons and live in a loft in San Francisco.

I’m happy for Asia that she has a plan and once she graduates from Sac. She can start to work towards her other goals.

After Asia’s interview I talked to Taylor McClure. She plans to attend the Art Institute of San Francisco in September. She informed me that if college doesn’t work out she will be working at a local business. As of right now she does not want kids only a husband.

Im proud of Taylor for fallowing her passion for photography and would like to further her passion. She says she don’t want kids but I believe her husband will change her mind down the line.

As for myself I plan to attend CSU Long Beach and major in Physical Therapy. Further down the line I would like two kids a boy and a girl and be happily married. This is just an overview of my life and everything else still has to be written.

These are just three seniors at Sacramento Charter High School that are ready to graduate and pursue their dreams an ambitions. If your worried about other seniors just asks them and they will be more then willing to tell you….

Sacramento Kings switch cities?

The Sacramento Kings have till March 1st to decide if they’re moving to Anaheim for next season. The Maloof brother’s who own the Kings have been trying to stay away from questions about the arena changes. They have been saying the same thing over and over again “but we also want to concentrate on our team right now. Any of the arena stuff we’ll talk about later.” In my opinion, they really don’t want to talk about all the arena changes and details at all. They are just getting infuriated because people want answers and they don’t really have them or don’t want to tell people.

The only thing that they Maloof’s are hearing is about the Kings moving and how people really don’t want them to move cities. They are so irritated that they even try to change the subject when questions rise about the Kings’ move. The line they use to change the subject is “I get tired of answering all these questions can’t we talk about how much better DeMarcus Cousins is getting?” People really don’t care about DeMarcus’ improvement, so they want a straight answer if the Kings are going to leave Sacramento.

When reporters ask the Maloof brother’s the same typical questions they obviously don’t have any answers to them. The Maloof’s really needed to get their answers straight and ready because people are getting very impatient with them. The Maloof’s can’t have them waiting forever. The Maloof’s also requested an extension on their final decision and the NBA board has given them an extra extension till April. Obviously the Kings have not decided to officially move and they don’t have a deal because Anaheim isn’t providing any answers as well. The question stands, “Are the Kings moving cities or are they sticking with Sacramento?”
